  • Four Reasons to Sell Gold Jewelry  By : Christopher Alex
The obvious reason you would sell gold jewelry is to make money, but the reasons you may decide to do so can be more complex than that. If you aren’t in urgent need of money but have been considering getting rid of some old pieces, now is one of the best times to sell gold jewelry.
  • What to Know When Selling Gold to Jewelers  By : Craig Gold
If you've decided to sell your scrap gold to a gold buyer, you first may want to get quotes from jewelry stores..

You have the right to receive the highest amount of money for your old gold and jewelry. For many people, Cash4Gold is the best option because they buy jewelry and gold of any size and shape. Dental gold, single earrings, broken necklaces, and the list goes on and on.

What if you have a piece of jewelry that you think is valued much more than just the metal that makes it up? You think you can get more money from a jewelry store for selling your items.

But wait, here's what you need to know so there are no surprises!

    You Can't Trust Engraving

Skilled jewelers and special equipment are the only things that can tell specifically what type of gold and sulver makes up any type of jewelry. Sadly what you think you have may not be what you have.

Engraving on jewelry denotes its karat, or its purity. Most countries have no rules requiring that engraving be authentic, and some don't require a third source to document jewelry's gold quality. It is possible your jewelry is falsely marked to falsify the content for the jeweler to make some extra money.

Retail Value Does Not Reflect the Scrap Metal Price

It is common to assume that when you sell to a gold metal refiner, you will get retail value for your gold and jewelry. Gold buyers only buy the intrinsic value of the metal that makes up the jewelry, not the jewelry's age or quality.

Jewelry stores work on insanely padded profit margins, and can increase up prices by 3-20x their metal's worth. Even jewelry purchased at a sale will still be a lot higher than the value of the metal. The situation is just like buying a brand new car. When you drive it out of the store, the worth of the automobile decreases.

Jewelers Use Appraising as a Marketing Gimmick

If you take your gold and jewelry to a jeweler for appraisal, there is a possibility that the appraised price is for trade-in only. This means that you will not get cash for your old jewelry. Jewelers want you to buy another piece that's already priced up three to ten times its actual value.

  • Where to Sell Scrap Gold Online  By : Craig Gold A
You have a couple of options if you have scrap gold and jewelry to sell and you want to sell it online. Selling gold online is an easier option than looking for dealers to buy your gold. Depending on the quality and quantity of items you have, it may not even be possible to pawn to a jewelry store. You can hunt down pawn shops that buy scrap gold, but it is difficult to know if you are getting the most cash. So what if you wanted to take an easier route and sell your gold on the web?

Auction web site such as eBay let you sell to customers that are interested in purchasing your items. The benefit of using eBay is that you can quickly sell your old jewelry. The downside is having to pay auction fees and shipping. Another downside is that dealing with an unsatisfied person can be a huge waste of time.

Classified sites like craigslist.org and backpage.com are another option for selling scrap gold. The benefit to classified websites is dealing locally with buyers, rather than worldwide with eBay. You start by creating a listing for your items, and hopefully you will get some inquiries. The downside with classifieds is that you may never know who you will be dealing with, so it's always better to arrange the meeting in public.

Your best option is selling your gold and jewelry to a gold refiner. These companies function by sending you a kit for mailing away your scrap gold. The insured shipment is then processed by the gold buyer and then they mail you a check. Gold buying companies are the easiest route for selling your items in a hurry because they deal with buying gold on a large scale. There are only a few scrap gold refining companies that you should deal with, and usually the companies that advertise on Television.

  • Begin Online Selling On eBay  By : Steve Weber A
My wife and I began with our Internet marketing career on eBay. To everyone who is starting out, I highly suggest you to use it to learn some of the basic principles of Internet marketing. We spent about a year on the auction site before we moved on to a real Internet business with a real website. Selling there taught us a lot of things about Internet marketing.

We learned all about accepting payments via PayPal and dealing with those online orders. Selling items there is also a great teacher of shipping. If you plan on shipping products in your future Internet business, eBay is a great place to learn. We learned all about using USPS packages, shipping weights, how to charge for shipping, getting the electronic shipping labels and confirmation labels. You will also acquire the skill in customer service for an online business. You learn a lot with it in those respects. It's a great place to begin an Internet marketing career.

However, eBay does have its limitations, and that's why we chose to move on to a real website; a more static website which requires a lot less weekly work than an auction site does. I highly suggest anyone starting out go ahead and clean out your closets, sell whatever you can, have a garage sale online learn how to write the copy, take the pictures and find the key words, etc. Yes, it is a lot of work, but it's a very good experience for those just starting out.

I do not suggest beginning with one of their "stores." It is best to simply find some items to sell and practice building the auctions and making sales. If you find a good niche, you can then consider building a store on the site.

It would have been much more difficult for us to jump into our Internet business with a website if we had not had all of the experience with eBay. It was a very good learning experience for us and I encourage you to start with it.
