Bakugan Battle Brawlers is a collectible toy and card game based on a Japanese anime television show. This is one of the best-sellers this holiday season, and has lots of room for expansion.

At first glance, the rules may seem a bit complicated, but are easily understood after a few rounds. Bakugan Gate Cards are placed on the game board while players sit across from each other. Each player takes a turn at rolling their Bakugan onto the game board. The Bakugan will open ready for battle if it rolls over a gate card.

Players have three Bakugan Battle Brawlers, three Gate Cards, and three Ability Cards each. If more advanced game play is desired, an additional trap can be added to the game. Each Brawler has a point value. Depending on the card and type of Bakugan, Gate cards add to that value.

When two Brawlers land on the same Gate Card, battle will begin. The total points of the Brawler, Gate and Ability Cards are added together. Any text on the cards may override the normal rules. After the winner of the turn is determined, the Brawlers are placed in the discard pile while the victor keeps the Gate card. The first player to get three cards wins the game.

There are over 100 Bakugan Battle Brawlers available, as well as many different Gate and Ability Cards, and Traps. This allows for endless variety during play, not to mention the skill needed to land your Bakugan on top of a Gate Card.
