Denver Haunted Houses | Top 10 Things to Do in Denver in October

It may seem a little early to be thinking about activities in the month of October, but if you enjoy the “Haunting” month as much as we do here, then it is never too early to start planning. Denver has lots of exciting and entertaining activities to keep your family busy throughout the entire month. Here are just a few of the highlights to look forward to.

OKTOBERFEST - September 18-20 and the 25th-27th. The annual OKTOBERFEST takes place in Larimer Square downtown. This annual event is celebrating its 40th year this year. Featuring live bands, beer, brats and more. Get your Lederhousen on and enjoy the festivities at OKTOBERFEST.

BARNUM AND BAILEY CIRCUS - September 30 - October 11th. This year the circus can be found at the Denver Coliseum. Experience the all new ZING ZANG ZOOM - Red Tour. The Circus always stops in Denver in October and each year they bring new and exciting circus acts for the whole family to enjoy. Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh my!

HALLOWEEN AT THE HORSE FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL - October 17th. Located in Parker, this annual event offers safe trick or treating and more. Follow a designated trail while sitting atop one of the the many trained and tame horses. Not too sure you want to ride, than just follow the patch and enjoy the fun.

WICKED- The Broadway Musical - October 7 - November 15 - Buell Theater. The Tony Award winning Broadway musical is a perfect match for the Halloween Season. Want to know what really happened in OZ? Now is your chance to find out.

PUMPKIN FESTIVAL - Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield - October 10th and 11th. Once again the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield offers up its annual Pumpkin Festival. Your family will get to choose their own pumpkin from the rows and rows of ripe pumpkins being offered. Vendors, hot chocolate, sleigh rides, and a corn maze round out this family friendly event. For those who want a little more excitement check out The Butcher Haunted House located near the Corn Maze. I bet he knows how to carve up a pumpkin!

REINKE Bros. HAUNTED MANSION and COSTUME STORE - Open year round. If you are looking for that perfect Halloween costume or just want to take in a store that offers something completely different, then the Reinke Bros Costume Store and Haunted Mansion is right up your alley. This Store is a ‘must-see’ all year round, but in October it becomes something special. Everywhere you look there are costumes, props, magic, makeup and almost every imaginable creature that goes ‘bump in the night’ on display. Follow your shopping spree up with a trip through the Haunted Mansion Haunted House. Featuring Disney like effects and scares around every turn for the whole family.

13th DOOR HAUNTED HOUSE - October 01-October 31. Parker and I-225 in Denver. When you have finished at the Haunted Mansion be sure to make your way over to the 13th Door Haunted House. The 13th Door Haunted House has the distinction of being voted the Best and Scariest Haunted House in all of Colorado by Americas Best Haunted Houses. You’ve probably heard the rumors abut a Haunted House with 13 Doors, live snakes, and NO exits with a guarantee you will get your money back if you make it out alive. The 13th Door Haunted House is where the legend started. Not for the faint of heart. The 13th Door Haunted House is definitely the scariest Haunted House in Denver.

NORTH METRO VET and PETS 4 PEOPLE ANNUAL FUNDRAISER! October 2 - October 31. North Metro Vet. Colorado’s only professional Haunted Vet Hospital and Amazing Howloween Attraction. Dogs and Cats offer up the scares here and this unique event is sure to be fun for the whole family.

MILE HIGH CON - Oct 23 - 25 at the Hyatt Regency in the DTC. If Haunted Houses aren’t your cup of cider, they going to Mile High Con. In its 41st year, this Science Fiction convention features authors, artists, panels and just about everything literary you can think of.

BOO AT THE ZOO - Oct 31-Nov 01at the Denver Zoo. Looking for a safe kid oriented trick or treat than check out Boo At The Zoo. It is great family fun and a wonderful chance to visit with all the furry inhabitants at the zoo. Costumes are encouraged.

So from Science Fiction to Theater to Pumpkin Patches to Corn Mazes to Denver Haunted Houses, Denver offers tons of fun events for everyone to enjoy this October. So don’t just sit there! It’s almost October - Go out and Enjoy the fun!
