How Much Are Baseball Cards Really Worth?

I have a son who eats, sleeps and thinks only baseball. I cannot really understand why this madness has come upon him. All that he can think of is the game and how he going to devise a strategy, whereby he becomes the next big name, this side of the Pacific. Let me tell you, as a mother I know that this will not happen. He will have to probably settle down and begin doing his study on some more mundane thing. This is because he needs to live and to live he needs money. The first thing that I hear from my son, when I talk about the Sports Cards Memorabilia that he has collected over the years is this: Ma, don’t ever throw those things out! If ever you do... I don’t even want to fill in the blanks of that. He would get truly ballistic, if he knew I was going to even think of throwing the stuff out.

You might therefore wonder if it is really worth the while collecting and storing Sports Memorabilia Cards. To tell you very frankly, I wonder too. Be that as it may, the fact remains that it is fun to do this kind of collection of stuff. You feel that you are part of the game and that your collection really means a lot to the progress of the game, every season it is played. More than anything else, it makes you have an identity for yourself. It makes you a part of the baseball crowd that follows some player or the other, season after season. You follow his ups and downs, his wins and losses and in this day and age, his transfers from one sporting club to another.

My son would certainly aver that it is an absolute sin to get rid of any of the Sports Memorabilia Autographs he has with him. His argument is that if he were to hold on to some of these autographs he could sell them at a point in his life when he has run out of money. He would want to hang on to those autographs for dear life, thinking that they would bring him a fortune. Maybe he is right in believing this. There are many folks as crazy as my son, who would be willing to pay a fortune for a small bit of paper or material, just because it has the signature of one of baseball’s greats on it.

Do remember that you are not alone if you are a person who collects sports memorabilia. There are many more like you, who hope to make a fortune someday.
