Silver in Alternative Medicine

Many believe that Crystals and Minerals, contain physical, spiritual, and earth energy, which can be used for alternative healing.

Silver is believed to conduct the body's energy, remove negative energy from the body and channel the positive energy of other minerals. Silver is usually combined with Turquoise, Agate, Jet, Moonstone and Lodestone or cooler-coloured gems, creating beautiful silver jewellery which perhaps has benefits beyond it’s beauty and style.

In general, Silver is believed to benefit circulation, help lungs and throat, and detoxify the blood, to aid in the treatment of degenerative brain diseases, balancing of hormones and chemicals and improvement of nerve impulse transmission.

Healers recommend Silver for hormonal and/or chemical imbalances and improving the transmission of nerve impulses, all of which can affect the patient's mental state.

They also ascribe powers for improving communications, reducing conflicts and increasing popularity, transforming energies and negativity and cleansing/balancing emotions.

While gold and silver are not specifically used within crystal healing, they are used as settings for specific crystals and felt to deliver varying energies to the crystals. Gold, ruled by the Sun a masculine planet, imparts an assertive energy to the crystals and minerals that are mounted in it, while Silver is ruled by the Moon a feminine planet, imparts a softened less assertive emotional energy.

Silver, it is said, is one of nature's 92 chemically pure elements.
Research conducted during the late 1930s showed that while silver was absolutely harmless on man, it was toxic to all species of bacteria, fungi, protozoa, parasites and a number of viruses. Essentially, silver acts as a catalyst, disabling those enzymes that are necessary for the survival of single-cell bacteria, fungi and virus. At the same time, it protects the body's natural enzymes and stimulates tissue growth.
