The Disney Trading Pin Craze

People of all ages and from all walks of life collect Disney pins. Both young and old can find a pin that will be of interest to them. The best part of this addicting hobby is that it's an inexpensive hobby to start and build up over time.

From cheap three dollar pins to pins that have sold for over a thousand dollars on eBay, the range is tremendous. As a matter of fact, there are hundreds to thousands of auctions of Disney trading pins every single day. Even the Disney website has an entire section dedicated to the collection of these great pins.

There are so many types of pins that you will need to just take your time in looking for what you wish to add to your collection. Some are available online or in Disney stores, some only by auction from Disney itself, and some only available if you are employed by Disney or know someone who's worked at a Disney theme park. With that said, let's have a look at the different types of Disney pins.

General release trading pins can be acquired at almost all parks and are also sold online. They sell for approximately seven to nine dollars and although they are relatively small, their quality is quite good. Limited edition pins can usually be found at theme parks and hotels, but usually will become rare in a short time. They can be some of the most collectible and expensive pins. Each Disney theme park has its own pin series as well, and these pins are considered an excellent method for beginners to start collecting and trading.

Cast member pins aren't released in stores as they are given to employees working in the theme parks so they can trade with the guests. The great thing about these pins is that cast members will trade with you for pretty much any Disney pin you may have, so you don't need a valuable pin in order to get one of these cast member pins. In many cases, you can get a real good quality pin from a cast member for a cheap pin of yours.

Auction pins are initially purchased through Disney Auctions, and in many cases come in limited editions and limited quantities. These pins are larger and higher in quality, but can cost much more with prices beginning at approximately eighteen to twenty dollars per pin.

Some people choose Disney pins only from a single theme park, while others may look for only the rarest limited edition pins. Disney pins have been collected for over two decades, and if I was to estimate, I'd say there are probably millions of different types of pins out there for you. Varying in quality, size, and price, there is definitely a pin for everyone and for every budget.
