Wooden Fish and Fish Carvings

Wooden fish are extremely popular. The art may have begun as anglers created fish decoys for use in ice fishing and other applications. Later, collectors saw the beauty in these items and began displaying them to the public. In other cases, decoy carvers and other animal carvers decided to branch out and depict fish with their craft. The popularity of wooden fish skyrocketed and today carved fish art is common in almost every nautical community.
