What are Junk Art and Trash Art? Junk art and trash art are interchangeable terms. This is a sub-genre of found art, where a piece of art is created from pieces that have previously been discarded as trash or junk. Recycled Sculptures by Brian Mock Every day, people throw away hundreds of items they have no more use for. These items range from paint to watches to toys and computers. Most of these items end up languishing in landfills, where they take years to decompose; some items never do, and just sit there, polluting the land. That is where artists like Brian Mock come in. Recycled Art and Found Art Styles Recycled art can be described as art that is created with reclaimed materials incorporated into the piece. Found art is classified as any art that is modified or made from undisguised objects that are generally speaking, not normally considered art due to their proper functioning. Reclaimed Art and Recycle Art Reclaimed art and recycled art are described as artworks that are compiled of objects that have been discarded by others. There are many reclaimed art and recycled art artists that use the vision of what art is to them, to create visual styles that are most impressive by any standards. Mixed Media Art and Assemblage Art When it comes to visual art, mixed media is any piece of artwork where more than one medium has been used on the same piece. Mixed media refers to works that combine traditional and distinct visual media. Mixed media art for example, could be a collage of sketches in charcoal, ink and paint. Mark Langan’s Unique Cardboard Art Mark Langan is an artist who is living in Cleveland, Ohio. He is skilled in many different artistic mediums. Since 2004, he has focused on making art out of cardboard. He uses corrugated boxes, a mat, a cutting edge, a razor knife, and non-toxic glue. Leo Sewell Recycled Art Leo Sewell is a recycled art expert, who uses self created assemblage techniques in his art. The sculptures Leo Sewell creates are made from reclaimed plastic, wood and metal pieces he collects from museums, corporations and individuals from around the world. Joe Pogan is the Master of Metal Sculptures Joe Pogan is a talented artist who is from Oregon, where he currently lives in Aloha. He served in the Navy for four years, after which he went to college in order to study welding and art. Jason Mecier Mixed Media Art Jason Mecier is a mixed media artist that has spent over 10 years making three dimensional mosaics of pop icons. Every portrait is created from discarded items that come directly from the celebrities themselves. Gabriel Dishaw’s Incredible Junk Art There is an old saying that “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” No one makes this truer than Gabriel Dishaw. This incredible artist takes junk that is lying around and turns it into amazing junk art. Eco Art and Environmental Art Subjects Environmental art can be used to define any art that deals with ecological issues as well as anything in the natural context. Environmental art is also a movement that began in the late 60s, and was then associated with sculpture such as land art or site specific art. Andrew Chase Metal Sculpture Andrew Chase is a sculptor in his free time, and is a commercial photographer as well as furniture maker career in Salt Lake City where he also lives with his family and cats. A Mixed Media Artist makes beautiful Assemblage Art Nadia Iliffe is a mixed media artist who lives in London in the United Kingdom. She takes commissions to make new recycled artwork or even to reproduce a piece she’s already made in order to give it to a museum or corporation.
