This is the revised edition published December 1, 1961, superseding the previous 1957 edition. The Guide compiled organizations and publications that had been cited by various federal, state, and municipal authorities as Communist, Communist-front, or subversive.
The publication originated in the early Cold War period and went through several revisions beginning in 1948. This 1961 edition was the final and most extensive version, making it an interesting primary-source document from the era of American anti-Communism and congressional investigations.
Includes entries on numerous political, labor, civil-rights, peace, cultural and other organizations and publications, together with citations to the government reports and proceedings upon which the Committee based the 1961
