This is an outstanding example of an original 1969-dated U.S. Army issuejungle Boonie hat, the classic headgear worn by American troops throughout theVietnam War. This piece is in mint, unissuedcondition and is still accompanied by its original mosquito head net—arare survival after more than 50 years.
The hat is constructed of lightweight, durableOD green rip-stop cotton, specifically designed for use in hot and humidclimates. It retains its full form with no wear or fading and features thecorrect four brass screened ventilation eyelets on the crown for aircirculation. The chin cord is present and fully adjustable, exactly as issued.Inside, the original contract label is intact and clearly marked with a 1969date of manufacture.
This example is a size 6 7/8 and comes in its original protective wrap,underscoring its untouched condition.
