This gorgeous hand made piece is a 2'6" x 4'4" Indian hanging tapestry with a scene depicting a rooster design, circa 1970s. This tapestry is in good condition.
Traditionally, India has excelled in the production of fine textiles, palatial carpets, magnificent shawls and Art Deco rugs that were influenced by colonial British trends. Despite adverse conditions and invasions from overseas colonists and imperial powers, Indian craftspeople managed to maintain a diverse and individual textile culture. Even when the weavers of antique Indian rugs borrowed designs from Persia, they immediately attained a new flavor. The colors are rich, the motifs are grand and the composition of antique Indian rugs is always elegant.
When designers are furnishing an Art Deco apartment, a stately painted Victorian home or even a Bohemian abode, the rich style, strong colors and elegance of traditional Indian textiles and antique carpets allows them to complement the ambiance of any interior setting. Textiles and carpets from India are stately, harmonious and well-balanced works of art that never have an excess of any one design element.

Best PricingFast ShippingGreat Service4'1" x 6'2" Turkish Tapestry - Hanging Rug - 1980s - Hand Made - 100% Wool This one of a kind hand made piece is a beautiful 4'1" x 6'2" Turkish hanging tapestry with a scene depicting horses by a creek, circa 1980s. This tapestry is in good condition. Antique Chinese Rugs and Carpets as opposed to most of the antique rug productions were woven almost exclusively for internal consumption. Since they were mostly sheltered from European and western influences, this offers us the reason why these carpets have a very unique truly ethnically Chinese look and appeal. Only during the early part of the 19th century did they open their markets to the countries of the west (for rugs – they have been exporting porcelain, bronzes, wooden and other works of art for many years prior to the 19th century). It is during this period (the early 1900′s and on) that we see a major and unmistakable change in the production, abandoning the traditional ornamental look to a more open and even Chinese Art Deco design. Rich in culture, history and folklore Chinese carpets incorporate design almost never seen in any other type of rug. Dragons, local art and ornamental objects are almost always a trademark of these productions. Payment Policy FeedbackCyrus Rugs Inc.
