Antique French Comtoise / Morbier Weight-Driven Wall Clock – Tested & Working
Beautiful and highly decorative French Comtoise/Morbier mechanical wall clock featuring an enamel Roman numeral dial signed “Pierre-Joseph BAILLY-SALINS à MORBIER.”
Tested and working. The mechanical weight-driven movement runs and features a traditional top-mounted strike bell.
The clock has an impressive embossed/repoussé metal dial surround and an elaborate oversized decorative pendulum with colorful hand-painted floral, fruit and figural scenes.
Includes two cast-iron drive weights, each weighing approximately 3 lb 4 oz, along with the winding key and decorative pendulum.
Condition: Antique condition with age-related wear and patina. The decorative metalwork shows paint loss, scratches, oxidation, dents/bending and areas of previous repair/reinforcement. Tape is present around one repaired area.
Included: Clock and mechanical movement, decorative dial surround, large decorative pendulum, two 3 lb 4 oz cast-iron weights, strike bell and winding key.
The clock was tested and working prior to listing. Due to the nature of antique mechanical clocks, leveling, setup and/or adjustment may be necessary after transportation.
A striking and unusual French decorative clock with tremendous display presence. Excellent piece for a collector of Comtoise, Morbier, French provincial or antique mechanical clocks.
