Light wear and rubbing to covers, with some smudging internally, else a VG example of a scarce sample book.A fantastic ink company publication and catalogue that has within a novel system of color charts to facilitate experimenting with color combinations. The cover is a folded sheet of semi-rigid card, which with its four folds, envelops the 76 numbered leaves, with printing on only the top side, that showcase the many colored inks of the company. The company was in business between 1910 and 1929. Plus, there are a variety of stylistic elements that hint at the teens or early twenties. The color combination system entails five cards with four color samples on each of the leaves. To play with the colors, you move the bottom leaf so that whatever color you wish to try out in combination with the top full rectangular specimen takes up the full circular hole. And so there are four sets of this color tool, constituting 20 of the leaves. There are nine other pages that have color samples that are more conventional. 37 of the pages are photo plates. With these, a particular photo, such as that of an object or of scenery, is shown using different inks so one can see the effect. The photos also display inks that give a metallic finish. Three photos provide samples of full color illustration as one might find in a magazine. The other leaves are either fully text or showing color variations on labels. Light wear overall.5 x 10 inches.
