Photo 1 is a studio photo of the actual box; photos 2-6 are unedited shots of the actual box.
Antique rosewood box of sarcophagus (casket-top) form, English Regency/Victorian tea-caddy form, 19th century style: rich rosewood grain, ornate cut-brass inlay escutcheon on the front, beaded trim around the lid, raised on bun feet, brass hinges. Measures 10.5 x 8.5 x 6.25 inches.
Condition: Used. NO KEY — the key is not included. The interior has been converted to a single open compartment lined in orange moire silk; the original tea canister fittings are NOT present, and the lining appears to be a later replacement. There is a scratch across the front lid band (visible in photos), fine crazing/checking in the finish on the sloped lid, and small nicks and wear on the base molding and edges consistent with age. Hinges and lid are sound. Sold as a decorative keepsake/work box.
