Antique Russian-language illustrated volume of the Collected Works of Captain Frederick Marryat, the English naval officer and adventure novelist.
Published in St. Petersburg by P. P. Soikin, likely in the early 20th century (circa 1912). Printed in old Russian orthography, with numerous black-and-white illustrations throughout.
Contains several of Marryat's adventure stories, each with its own title heading. Bound in attractive period quarter leather with marbled paper-covered boards.
Approximate dimensions: 8 × 6 inches.
Condition: Antique book with age-related wear, including rubbing and fading to the leather spine, and wear to the boards and corners. Both boards are firmly attached, and the binding is solid. Pages show some age toning and occasional spotting. Former library stamps and handwritten markings are present. Overall, a solid copy with typical wear for its age. Please see photos for details.
An interesting example of early Russian editions of classic English adventure literature, with period illustrations and an attractive antique binding.
