An antique round papier-mâché snuff box dating to circa 1830. Highly characteristic of German manufacture (such as Stobwasser or similar Braunschweig workshops), the lid is decorated with a detailed, hand-tinted stenciled romantic scene depicting a gentleman veiling or unveiling a seated lady within a floral garden. The lower margin features a bilingual inscription in French and German: "Je choisis la plus belle" and "Ich wähle die Schönste", which translates to "I choose the most beautiful." The body of the box is finished in a classic black lacquer.SELLER POLICY
