DEATH RECORDS OF PIONEERMISSOURI WOMEN – 1808-1949
From the first page – Obituaries as we know themdid not exist in Missouri until late in the 1800s. But death notices began withthe earliest newspaper, the famous old Missouri Gazette. Fortunately for theresearcher, many of the deaths reported were women … women whose names wouldnever appear on a census, might never be found in a marriage records. Therecords which follow, reporting the deaths of about 1500 pioneer Missouri womenand girls, were taken from 40 newspapers covering a period from 1808 to 1849.
