Franz Julius Giesbert (1896-1972) was a German musician, composer, and educator instrumental in the 20th-century revival of the recorder. He researched historical music performance and education, publishing influential and widely used instruction manuals, such as his notable Method for the Treble Recorder. His work included arranging and editing numerous Renaissance and Baroque pieces for recorder ensembles, helping to reintroduce early music repertoire to modern players and audiences.
