Fire red and black define this katana: a deep crimson lacquered saya with a black ring-carved collar at the mouth, black cotton ito and a Kami motif tsuba. The blade is hand-forged 1045 high carbon steel, heat tempered, with a 2/3-length bo-hi on each side. It arrives sharp, with a full tang, two mekugi and fittings that come fully apart for care.

• Hand-forged 1045 high carbon steel, heat tempered. 52–54 HRC at the edge holds a keen, hand-sharpened edge; a softer 48–50 HRC spine absorbs shock. A 2/3-length bo-hi (fuller) runs along each side.
• Full tang, fully disassemblable. The tang runs the full length of the handle and is secured with two mekugi pegs. The sword can be taken apart for cleaning and reassembled.
• Traditional tsuka. Genuine rayskin (same), a black Japanese cotton ito wrap and metal menuki — a secure, classic grip.

  Care and Use

  Suited to light cutting practice such as rolled tatami omote, soft mats and water-filled bottles, where permitted by local law. Not intended for hard targets such as metal, stone or seasoned hardwood. The blade can rust if left wet: wipe it dry after handling and apply a light coat of sword oil before storing.
