Offered here is a remarkable group of 14 antique architectural door knobs, featuring an assortment of ornate Victorian / Eastlake / Aesthetic-style metal designs along with several contrasting mineral, stone or porcelain-type knobs.
Every knob is different.
This is not a group of matching hardware removed from a single door or house. It appears to have been assembled as a collection of different historic architectural hardware designs.
THE COLLECTION
Included are 14 knobs total, exactly as photographed.
The collection includes numerous heavily decorated brass/bronze-tone examples displaying beautiful period ornamentation:
Geometric Eastlake-style patterns
Floral and foliate borders
Geometric and architectural motifs
Raised cast decoration
Several different round and oval profiles

Several of the most elaborate metal examples are particularly impressive, with deeply cast decoration extending across the face and sides of the knobs.
PERIOD & HISTORY
Decorative cast-brass and bronze door hardware reached an extraordinary level of craftsmanship during the American Victorian period.
During the late 19th century, prominent American hardware manufacturers produced enormous catalogs of decorative knobs in Eastlake, Aesthetic, Gothic, Renaissance and other fashionable architectural designs.
Rather than treating a door knob as purely functional hardware, manufacturers created elaborate cast designs intended to complement the architecture and interior decoration of Victorian homes and commercial buildings.
The different patterns represented in this collection provide an excellent visual cross-section of this era of decorative architectural hardware.
Based on design and construction, many pieces appear consistent with late-19th to early-20th-century architectural hardware. Exact manufacturer, pattern and production date of each individual knob have not been established, and the lot is therefore being sold as an antique mixed collection rather than attributed to a specific maker.
CONDITION
Antique used condition with substantial age and character.
Expect original patina, oxidation, tarnish, surface wear, scratches, discoloration and other evidence of decades of use and storage.
THE KNOBS HAVE NOT BEEN POLISHED OR RESTORED.
The old surfaces and patina have intentionally been left intact.
Some retain their original shanks/set-screw openings. Spindles, backplates, locks and other installation hardware are not included unless specifically visible in the photographs.
Please examine all photographs carefully for individual condition, construction, decoration and completeness.
