Exceptional 8.70 oz Crystallized Precious-Metal Ore Specimen – California Mining District, Southwest Colorado

Offered here is an exceptional 8.70-ounce (246.6 gram) mineral specimen originating from the historic California Mining District of southwest Colorado.

This is a particularly attractive and highly mineralized piece featuring numerous exposed metallic and dark lustrous crystals, contrasting white crystalline material, vugs, and complex intergrowths throughout the specimen. Under magnification, the piece displays outstanding crystal structure with metallic gold/brassy, silver-gray, bronze, reddish-brown and nearly black mineralization.

The California Mining District is historically known for unusual and complex precious-metal mineralization. Gold and silver were important commodities, and documented district mineralogy includes numerous sulfides and precious-metal-bearing minerals.

• Rhodium (Rh): up to 3.33% indicated
• Ruthenium (Ru): up to 0.587% indicated
• Palladium (Pd): up to 0.179% indicated
