Vintage Automatic Electric Monophone black rotary telephone, likely an AE40-era model, made by Automatic Electric Company of Chicago.
Features a classic black streamlined Art Deco-style body, chrome-accented handset, rotary dial, coiled handset cord, and original-style “CHATHAM 3-3440” number card.
The rotary dial turns and returns smoothly. Telephone service/function has not been tested.
The underside retains the Automatic Electric Monophone manufacturer label and original hardware. Shows normal age-related wear, surface scratches, and signs of use consistent with a vintage telephone.
A great display piece for collectors of antique telephones, mid-century decor, communications memorabilia, or vintage office equipment.
