Vtg Shosone Native American Beaded Rose Leather Fringed Gauntlet Gloves 1940's For SaleVtg Shosone Native American Beaded Rose Leather Fringed Gauntlet Gloves 1940's These beaded gauntlet gloves were made by the Native American Shosone tribe in the 1940's. They are 13" long and 7.5" wide at the widest part of the gauntlet. Gauntlet gloves began to be made by Native American tribes in the 1880's after seeing US soldiers wearing them when riding their horses. They were primarily ceremonial and usually included intricate bead work. The bead work on these gloves is intact and in beautiful condition. They were purchased in Ketchum Idaho in 1992 by an individual, and I acquired them in an estate sale in the Washington, DC area. They would make a wonderful addition to any collection or as a gift for someone who appreciates Native American art. They are in very good vintage condition with one minor area of wear to the leather next to the bead work on the left glove. The pictures show the condition of the gloves very well.
