Original WWII Associated Press press photograph showing U.S. Army personnel with captured German prisoners during the Allied advance into Germany in March 1945. The original typed press caption remains attached to the reverse and identifies the scene as German prisoners captured east of the Rhine in the Rüdesheim, Germany area, with the photograph released for publication in evening newspapers on March 27, 1945.
The reverse retains its original Associated Press Ltd. London stamp, wartime press/censorship markings, and the period typed caption. The photograph provides an excellent contemporary visual record of the final Allied advance through Germany during the closing weeks of the European campaign.
This is an original historical artifact from the Second World War era, and therefore shows natural wear and tear resulting from age and regular use during the period.
