For those of us living in the modern world it is difficult to comprehend how the action Rosa Parks: Life after Montgomery It is well known that Rosa Parks played a spearhead role in the civil rights movement, by refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama city bus to a white passenger. Her life was a flicker of hope in a world of inequality. It's important to understand what happened to her after the bus boycotts that were started soon after her arrest. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was organized because of Rosa’s arrest for violating the city ordinance that demanded all public transportation be segregated. ROSA PARKS: CHAMPION FOR CIVIL RIGHTS AND FREEDOM There are many stories of brave and rebellious patriots that have risen from the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Few are more celebrated than the quiet seamstress whose actions lead to the ultimate fall of legalized segregation. The story is of Rosa Parks, often referred to as the mother of the modern civil rights movement. ROSA PARKS: AN AMERICAN HERO As time goes by and old wounds heal it is easy to forget the struggles that brave and rebellious people make in order to clear the way for the freedom of others. With one simple act, a lady by the name of Rosa Parks did just that; she set in motion one of the widest spread and far reaching movements this country has ever seen. She has been called many names; however the most prolific name is “the mother of the civil rights movement”. Rosa Parks made an enormous impact on the society in which she lived. ROSA PARKS CARRIED THE TORCH OF FREEDOM AND EQUALITY Each year as school bells ring and children open their history books they hear the story of Rosa Parks. What they read and hear is how her one brave act was a key turning point in the fight for Civil Rights in the United States. It is certain that no matter how well the teacher explains it they will not grasp how bold Rosa Parks was. In reality, only those who were there at the time can understand. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue to learn about Rosa Parks and how she became known as A Face of the Civil Rights Movement Rosa Parks was a spearhead in the civil rights movement. She left an indelible mark on history with her quiet strength and unwavering resolve. By simply refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery, Alabama city bus, she made a statement that is still remembered. Today her action would not be considered any type of miss step, but in 1955 what she did was considered a criminal act.
