The Rise Of The Bluray Format In Society

The VHS was introduced in the late 1970s. In 2006 the VHS was effectively dead. It took about twenty years to happen. And now the DVD, which had taken the place of the VHS as the most popular means of home entertainment, could find itself being phased out soon with that of Bluray. Bluray is currently the preferred format for most film fans who take their viewing seriously. I'm talking to you, broke person who hasn't upgraded. And after all, why would you not want to upgrade to Bluray? It has so much to offer, and it already won the format war against the, let's face it, pathetic HD DVD.

First thing about Bluray that makes it worth it is pure and simple: It looks fantastic. No, seriously, Bluray is the best looking option you have right now. Sure, you may be hip to digital downloads, or online streaming for your movies, but your computer can only handle so much. Bluray offers an amount of detail that has never been had before in home entertainment, and you should take advantage of it. Movies that have been remastered look fantastic. Even the smallest screen playing a Bluray will look better than a big screen playing a DVD.

Another reason to make the switch is also for superior sound quality. You have been flaunting your surround sound ever since you got it, so put it to good use! Pair it up with the format that will maximize the quality of your sound system. After all, you paid for it, so you might as well get the best out of it.

And speaking of price, there is another reason to make the switch. Bluray players are becoming progressively more affordable, as are the Blurays themselves. So why not go ahead and buy one. After all, DVD may be dead in a few years anyway. I suppose that is another reason you should make the switch. You simply may not have any choice soon. Bluray is, after all, intended to replace the DVD, which means one day the format will be completely phased out, and Bluray will reign supreme.

If you do not want to have to back up most of your DVDs with Blurays instead, do not worry about it. Most Bluray players are backwards compatible, meaning that you can still play all of your DVDs and not spend anymore than you need or want to.
